Terms of Service

The rules for using Spentlo

Last updated: August 14, 2026

These Terms explain the agreement between you and Spentlo when you create an account or use the service. They are written for Australian users and should be read with the Privacy Policy.

Terms at a glance

Plan, do not guess

Spentlo provides planning tools and estimates. It does not replace professional advice or primary financial records.

You stay in control

You choose what to add, connect and share, and you can stop using or delete your account through available controls.

Use it fairly

Protect your account, respect household permissions and do not misuse Spentlo or other people's information.

1. Acceptance and eligibility

By creating an account or continuing to use Spentlo, you agree to these Terms. You must be at least 18 years old, legally capable of entering this agreement, and authorised to provide any household or third-party information you add. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service.

2. What Spentlo provides

Spentlo helps you record and organise household finances, explore cash flow, budgets, goals, loans, assets, tax estimates and long-term scenarios, and use optional connected-data and AI features. Some functions may be labelled as previews or unavailable until they are ready.

Spentlo does not currently hold or transfer your money, execute bank transactions, provide a bank account, arrange credit, or act as your accountant, tax agent, lender, insurer or financial adviser.

3. Estimates, calculators and no professional advice

Outputs are estimates based on the information available to Spentlo and the assumptions shown in the relevant tool. Rates, laws, markets, fees, taxes, lender methods and your circumstances can change. No output is a promise, guarantee, valuation, credit assessment or prediction of a particular result.

Content is general information only and is not personal financial product, credit, tax, legal, accounting or investment advice. Spentlo does not recommend that you acquire, keep or dispose of a financial product or enter, change or remain in a particular credit contract. Consider advice from an appropriately licensed or registered professional where it would be useful for your decision.

Each public calculator and in-app projection may have additional assumptions, warnings and limitations. Those in-tool disclosures form part of these Terms and should be read before relying on a result.

4. AI-assisted features

AI insights are machine-generated and may misunderstand your information, omit important context or produce an inaccurate response. They are planning prompts, not professional advice or automated decisions about your eligibility for a financial product, loan, insurance, benefit or service. Review each response critically and verify material information before acting.

Optional external AI use is described in the Privacy Policy and relevant in-app controls. Do not submit information you are not authorised to share.

5. Your account and security

Provide accurate account information, keep your password and security methods confidential, use a separate account for each person, and promptly tell support@spentlo.com if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity caused by your failure to take reasonable care of your credentials, to the extent permitted by law.

6. Household workspaces and permissions

A household owner can invite people, assign available roles and manage access. Members may see and change household information according to those permissions. Only add or invite people where you have authority, review access regularly, and remove access when it is no longer appropriate. Household members remain responsible for their own accounts and actions.

7. Information you add and Privacy

You retain ownership of information and content you add. You give Spentlo a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, process, reproduce and display that information only as reasonably needed to provide, secure and improve the service you request. You confirm that you have the right to provide it.

The Privacy Policy explains what Spentlo collects, why it is used, how it is protected, when it may be shared, and your access, correction and deletion choices. It is not a blanket consent for unrelated uses.

8. Optional bank linking and third parties

You may connect only accounts you own or are authorised to access. Bank linking uses a separate consent flow and may also be subject to the bank-data provider's terms and privacy notice. You can review, refresh or withdraw supported connections through available controls.

Connected data can be delayed, unavailable, duplicated or inaccurate, and your bank or provider records prevail. Spentlo does not ask for or store your internet banking password. Third-party services, app stores and external websites remain responsible for their own products and conduct; these Terms do not exclude Spentlo's responsibility for its own conduct.

9. Acceptable use

Do not use Spentlo to break the law, commit fraud, access another person's account or data without authority, introduce malicious code, bypass security or usage controls, disrupt the service, scrape it at unreasonable scale, infringe intellectual property, or mislead another person about a Spentlo output. Security research must be authorised in writing before testing.

10. Spentlo software and intellectual property

Spentlo and its licensors own the service, software, visual design, documentation, branding and other materials supplied by Spentlo. Subject to these Terms, you receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the service for your personal or household planning. This does not transfer ownership of Spentlo or your information.

11. Availability and changes to the service

Spentlo aims to provide a dependable service but cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free access. Maintenance, security work, provider outages, internet conditions and events outside reasonable control can affect availability. Where practical, Spentlo will communicate material planned interruptions.

Features may change for legitimate product, security, legal or technical reasons. If a change materially reduces a core service, Spentlo will give reasonable notice where practical and let you stop using the service before it takes effect. Urgent legal or security changes may take effect sooner, with notice as soon as reasonably possible.

12. Suspension, account closure and deletion

You can stop using Spentlo or request account deletion through available controls. Spentlo may temporarily restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address a credible security threat, fraud, unlawful use, serious harm or a material breach of these Terms. Where the issue is not urgent, Spentlo will aim to provide reasons and a reasonable opportunity to fix it.

If Spentlo discontinues the service, it will aim to provide reasonable notice and a practical opportunity to export available information. Deletion and retention are handled as described in the Privacy Policy, including limited backup, security and legal retention.

13. Australian Consumer Law rights

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law. You may have rights where services are not provided with due care and skill, are not fit for an agreed purpose, or are not supplied within a reasonable time.

Learn more from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

14. Responsibility and liability

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for checking information you enter, reconciling connected data and deciding whether an estimate is suitable for your circumstances. Spentlo is not responsible for loss caused solely by inaccurate information you provide, unauthorised use attributable to your failure to take reasonable security precautions, or a third-party outage outside Spentlo's reasonable control.

Spentlo does not exclude responsibility where it would be unlawful to do so, including for non-excludable consumer guarantees or loss caused by Spentlo's own failure to exercise due care and skill. Any responsibility is reduced only to the extent that another person's act or omission contributed to the loss.

15. Questions, complaints and disputes

Contact support@spentlo.com first so the issue can be reviewed in good faith. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from contacting a regulator, consumer protection body or court, or from exercising a right or remedy available under law.

16. Applicable law

These Terms are governed by the laws applying in Australia. Nothing in this section limits mandatory rights or remedies available in your State or Territory.

17. Changes to these Terms

Spentlo may update these Terms for legitimate product, legal, security or operational reasons. The latest version and effective date will remain on this page. Spentlo will provide reasonable advance notice of a materially adverse change where practical, unless an urgent legal or security reason requires faster action. You can stop using and delete your account if you do not accept an updated version.
